The Quilting Bee...Show and Tell

Joann (with Emmas help) shows off how far she has gotten on her quilting bee quilt. This quilt represents the journey to the western frontier. This class has been a lot of fun as we have learned about the women of the 1800's and how they dealt with the trek to the west.
The Quilting Bee is where we can meet, share information, socialize, trade fabrics, quilt and just have some fun. We meet the 3rd saturday of the month at 8 am.

Our western trail Reciept for this month was Beef Jerkey

1 flank or london broil steak
salt and pepper
1 cup soy sauce
aluminum foil (obviously not from the 1800's)

cut the steak inot strips with the grain of the meat. It is very important to cut along the grain or the cooked meat will fall apart into small pieces. Pour the soy sauce into a bowl and dip the meat strips in it. Lay the strips out on a piece of foil and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the strips on a metal rack in the oven with foil below to catch the drippings

Oven: 150 F
time: 10 hours

NEW GAME! 25 random things about me

Jeanne is holding up our new game in our Game and Family Activity Section.
One Random thing about Jeanne is "She can Whistle" (really loud too!)Jeanne is one of our employees and is Hard of Hearing,so if you stop and ask her a question and she doesn't answer, just tap her on the shoulder and then ask. She can read your lips :)

25 Random things about me... The Game you'll try to match fun facts on the game cards with your opponents. Make a match and add a new, totally random thing avout yourself to your list. The first person to complete a list of 25 random things about them wins. (it's great fun to review everyone's list at the end of the game!) Best of all you can play again and again.
Every game is different.
This game was first put out on Facebook and is now a game you can play at home without your computer.

Decorated Headbands

I was at the rodeo breakfast and noticed a girl wearing a headband with a big flower and feathers. Wow, how much fun is that? Here is my version!!

All you need is a plain plastic headband, 2 yards 5/8 inch ribbon, a big flower, feathers, bling and some fabri-tac fabric glue.

Wrap your headband with the ribbon, glue along the way.
Take apart your flower and glue just the petals together.(the stamen is usually to bulky to lay nice on your headband)
Glue feathers to the spot under where your flower will go.
Glue your flower to the top of your feather spot
Add bling or gemdrops to the middle of your flower where you removed the stamen.
Let dry

Now it's ready to wear!!
