Bead It FAQ
The number one most frequently Asked Question in the Bead Shop is:
“What is the difference between a jump ring (sometimes referred to as an “O” ring) and a split ring (looks like a mini key ring)?
Answer:
A jump ring is a ring that has been “opened” for easy attachment. Using pliers, simply pry the ring apart at the opening and attach to a clasp, use as a jewelry ending or ust toconnect jewelry pieces. Then, using pliers bring the ring back together
Jump ring pro-it’s very easy to use. Jump ring con-it can be difficult to get the ring to stay closed. Therefore you run the ristk of having it come off and possible losing anything that ws attached to it.
As mentioned before, a split ring looks like a mini key ring. Using split ring pliers (or your fingernail-OUCH!) separate the ring and use anyplace you might usa a jumpring
Split ring pro-it’s very secure and wont’ easily fall off. Split ring con-it can be very difficult to use. Especially without the proper tool.
